A different approach to talking about plant-based diets

It’s not about restricting meat, it’s about eating more greens!

Many people assume that plant-based diets = No meats. This is not totally true.

In fact, I am to some extent, a “herbivore” who love meat. I follow a plant-based diet not so much to restrict meat consumption, but rather my goal is to consume more vegetables (both quantity and diversity).

Going plant-based also gives me the opportunity to experiment and discover many culinary uses of plants and expand my taste!

As times go I find my body naturally “craves” less for meat (probably because plant-based dishes could just be as delicious). When I learn to enjoy the greens, consuming less meat become a “by-product”, like an effortless habit.

However, I would NOT restrict meat entirely from my diet, especially during those special occasions. And when I do consume that steak, I’ll make sure it’s the best bite ever! Plants and meats do not have to be “opposite” to each other, rather they are complementary.

You could say I am a Flexitarian, which I think is a great concept because this “diet” showcase a good balance between health and pleasure. Ultimately, we should be the one who hold power in food and not the way around.
